- I don't claim to be an expert, but it strikes me that errors in fax
- transmissions are acceptable, who cares whether or not there is a
- few white dots in the middle of letter or a smudge on the top left hand
- corner. However I would think that errors in transmission of data would
- result in modem retraining and resent packets. In our area we have
- digital exchanges and one old crossbar exchange. People on the crossbar
- exchange have great difficulty connecting to our local ISP.
